Patrol Sectors

Walnut Creek is divided into five sectors for patrol. Each sector is assigned a commander. The commander is an expert in incidents and activity happening in your neighborhood. You can contact them if you are interested in learning about any crime trends or want to learn about what’s happening in your local sector.

Sector 1

Sector 1 has three beats:

Beat 11 – Rossmoor and Tice Valley
Beat 12 – Creekside Dr and Parkmead
Beat 13 – Rudgear, Homestead, and Walnut Heights

Sector 1 is a busy sector, with a mix of businesses and residential. It borders the downtown area. It also includes a large portion of residential areas in the southern part of the city south of Ygnacio Valley Rd and west of John Muir Hospital, down to the Alamo border.

Las Lomas High School
Kaiser Permanente Hospital
Shell Ridge Open Space
Civic Park
Downtown Library
Rossmoor community for older adults

Sector 2

Sector 2 has three beats:

Beat 21 – Almond/Shuey, Parkside, and Oak Rd
Beat 22 – San Luis Rd, The Avenues, and Larkey Park
Beat 23 – Beacon Ridge, Palos Verdes, and Montclair Highlands

Sector 2 is Walnut Creek’s busiest sector in terms of activity and calls for service.

It stretches from:

Mt. Diablo Blvd. to the south
Civic Dr. and Oak Rd. to the east
Pleasant Hill Rd. to the west
North to the Pleasant Hill border

Sector 2 includes:

All of our major hotels
Palos Verdes Mall,
Walden Center
Larkey Park
Almond/Shuey neighborhood

Sector 3

Sector 3 has three beats:

Beat 31 – Civic Dr, Heather Farm Park, and Countrywood
Beat 32 – Bancroft ,The Woodlands, and The Orchards
Beat 33 – Walnut Ave, Northgate, Rancho Paraiso, and Diablo Shadows

Sector 3 is the largest in terms of geographic area. The sector boundaries consist of everything east of Oak Rd. to the city limit at the top of Ygnacio Valley Rd., and the city border with Concord to the north.

Sector 3 is mostly single-family residences. It also includes:

Heather Farm, the City’s largest park
Northgate High School
John Muir Hospital, which serves as the County Trauma Center
Boundary Oak Golf Course and Taproom
Shadelands Business Park
Orchards Shopping Center
Shadelands Sports Mall
Ultimate Fieldhouse

Sector 3 has a Police Field Office located at 2623 Shadelands Drive #3. This allows officers to stay in the sector to write reports, conduct interviews, and access computers. This field office is not open to the public.

Sectors 4 and 5

Sectors 4 and 5 each have one beat:

Beat 41 – Downtown (Sector 4)
Beat 51 – Broadway Plaza (Sector 5)

Sector 4 is mostly businesses, restaurants and bars, and high-density residential homes.

Officers working in Sector 4 are often conducting foot patrols. This helps them develop positive relationships with:

Walnut Creek Downtown Business Association and business owners
Walnut Creek Homeless Task Force
Members of the community in the downtown area

Sector 5 is the Broadway Plaza. We have partnered with the property owner to have an officer assigned to the Plaza 40 hours per week.
