Protecting Your Property: Taking the Proactive Approach

Business and property owners can take a proactive approach to prevent criminal activity. Here are a few things business and property owners can do:

Post signs on your property such as "No Trespassing"
Sign and send a Trespass Authority Letter to the Walnut Creek Police Department
Secure trash enclosures
Do not leave empty cardboard boxes where they are publicly accessible
Reduce foliage that may be used as hiding spots for people and property
Ensure adequate lighting
Increase presence or implement private security measures
Do not feed or give money to non-patrons

Someone living in a business or commercial property (yours or a neighbor’s)
Abandoned shopping carts or items left behind
Too much trash, debris, or outdoor storage

Police Department Concerns

Call the Walnut Creek Police Department at (925) 935-6400 if you notice:

Drug use or drug-related items
People loitering outside places that sell alcohol
Trespassing
Blocking access to businesses
Aggressive panhandling
